Hello,

Please use this form to sign up for the New Advising Professional Institute or Mid-Level Management Institute (both at 10AM-2PM).

Also, you will be a part of TEXAAN history by signing up for one of our first ever three pre-conference sessions:
- ( 10AM-12PM) It's time we stopped being polite, and start getting real, about YOU!: Welcome to the beginning of your career (or your new position)! Now that your foot is in the door, it is time to start planning for your next step. Whether you started last week or two years ago, there is never a wrong time to start thinking about what’s next. Hear from two current Texas A&M employees who have been in your shoes and learn how they got to where they are today. We will discuss how to begin believing in and promoting yourself, and how to dive into the plethora of opportunities for professional development. Participants should leave with an understanding of ways to enhance their resume and advance their career. After all, marketing yourself is the most important step!

- ( 11AM-12PM) Using a Learning Management System to Enhance Advising and Save Advisors' Time: This session will explain how to use a Learning Management System (LMS), such as Canvas, to create a program-specific resource page for students to find information about commonly asked questions and other resources that are pertinent to their major. Using an LMS provides an easier, more efficient way to make changes than through a website, and it enables students to locate information for themselves more effectively. I will share screenshots of my Canvas course for attendees to view an example to guide the creation of their own course. Attendees will be able to brainstorm ideas for using a LMS or related product for advising and set a goal for implementing a course of their own from this session.

- (12:30-2:30PM) The Untold Stories of Administrative Leadership in Academic Advising: Have you ever wondered if you’re ready for the next leadership position? This session is guaranteed to make participants ponder the joys and responsibilities of leadership beyond the title and money. During this session, participants will engage with administrative leaders regarding the journey, knowledge and experience of administrators in academic advising. Presenters will also share how higher education trends and issues impact institutions, institutional initiatives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) which also impact day to day operations at the division and unit level and why advising leadership needs to remain knowledgeable of those trends and issues. Participants will leave the session with action items that can be put into motion to help prepare to pursue an administrative leadership within Academic Advising.
