Hello and Welcome to the TEXAAN 2020 Annual Conference!

We are excited that you are interested in, what will be, a great conference. TEXAAN 2020 will be held in beautiful South Padre Island at the breathtaking Pearl Hotel and Resort. South Padre Island was chosen as this year’s conference site to bring advisors to a different and beautiful area of Texas while allowing more advisors from the South Texas area to be able to attend. Along with the amenities The Pearl offers, the local attractions are phenomenal and all located within close proximity to the hotel.

Our theme for this conference is “Navigating the Changing Tides of Academic Advising”. We chose it to incorporate the water surrounding South Padre Island as well as the changes we face daily in advising: institutions wanting to do more with less, different approaches to advising and managing students, and more!

We are looking forward to changing up the structure of this TEXAAN conference from previous conferences, adding in new activities like a New Advisor Institute and a Mid-Level Manager Institute, hosting a Poster Session, and more! We hope to make this experience different from previous TEXAAN conferences and a different experience from other conferences in general. A new addition to this TEXAAN 2020 Conference will be the use of the Whova App. If you are unfamiliar with Whova, it is an award winning event app available for smart phones. While using this app you can download the schedule of events, activate reminders, connect and meet with other conference attendees, and more!

We look forward to seeing you all in South Padre Island February 27-29, 2020. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to one of us.

Thank you,

Conference Co-Chairs:

Casey Schumacher and Dr. Terrance McClain
